I think he is horrible, that game he made caused the death of hundreds of people, he's a terrible father. But I agree that he is very intelligent like kurapika and chrollo, and he is entertaining to watch, but strangely enough I don't root for him. Even stranger is that I feel better about hisoka than ging, crazy huh.
